Ice man, Aokiji is one of the characters that are "mix" of good and evil. A lot more complex character which has more than meets the eye. His first appearance was just before Water seven where he froze Robin up and fought with Luffy.
Shortly before that happened very funny scene where people of the island ask Aokiji for help to get over the ocean - this actually reminds the readers that things can be looked from many perspectives. There is no such thing as good and evil, when looked from objective point of view.
