Gamaran Chapter 178: Anticlimax of The Officer of Muhou School

Comments
Battle between Sengoku Iori and Ango Kuryuu headed towards the climax and ended up with an anticlimax. Even though no one died the author wanted us to see how powerful Sengoku Iori actually is. He's certainly very well designed character who is easy to like. I hope that we'll get to see him and Jinsuke meeting in the next chapter and the battle between them to begin very shortly

Sengoku Iori beating Ango Kuryuu with his bare hands

I'm still feeling very anxious about what the result of their clash will be.. After all I'm going to give out a prediction that Iori will most likely suffer a very gruesome death to impact the readers. Man, I'm sad already.

Recap of Gamaran Chapter 178:

-The Battle between Iori and Kuryuu is heading towards the climax.

-Despite looking like he has lost, Kuryuu refuses to give up. He plans to give up his own life to end Ioris.

-They dash towards the final attack, but Iori suddenly lets go of his sword and hits Ango Kuryuu with his bare hand making him unconscious. It's time for Iori to face Jinsuke

-Scene however changes to Ranmaru and Naoyoshi who managed to beat several bakufu warriors.

-Suddenly Gama appears there reuniting with Naoyoshi.

Toriko Chapter 224: Self-evidence by Coco

Comments:
I nowadays have such a high expectations regarding Toriko so it was destined to disappoint at some point and that point was this week. There really wasn't any progress, except that Grinpatch made the huge hole, which was impressive, Coco jumped with him in there and Sani was being disgusted by Tommyrod. What a great matchup btw.

Coco also mentioned some poison which would be even dangerous to him: this was an obvious foreshadowing that he will have to resort to this power. I think that all the heavenly kings will at least go near death in these fights with the bishokukai.

It would seem that the author wanted to give Komatsu a pet like all the heavenly kings have their own: the wall penguin is an excellent choice for him.

This chapters theme mostly seemed to be Coco explaining Komatsu how the chefs are very important in the gourmet age, but I honestly though that was somewhat self explanatory. Gotta wait for next week, then there should be a lot of things to happen.

Recap of Toriko Chapter 224: The World's Hope

-Battle between Grinpatch and Coco, Coco realizes that his poison isn't really working.

-Grinpatch inhales and uses breath missile making a huge hole to the ground.

-Komatsu wonders why the Bishokukai is going so far to capture chefs, Coco explains to him that the most valuable people in gourmet age are chefs. They are the World's treasures.

-Coco grabs Grinpatch and jumps with him in to the hole that Grinpatch made with his breath missile.

-Meanwhile Sani is fighting with Tommyrod.

-Tommyrod has spawned a lot of bugs including Wicked Dung Fly (Jya Guso Bae) capture level 82

-The one that cut Sanis hair was Tommyrods Giant Parasite, Capture Level 105.

Naruto Chapter 622: The Shinobi War Between The Clans

Comments:
At first I was pretty disappointed by this weeks chapter, it was honestly a bit boring. I understand that there has to be this kinds of chapters to make some room for more amazing ones which include great twists and actions.

This chapters theme was obviously Hashirama learning of the war and forming his opinion of the futility of it all. The meeting with Madara was predicament for future agreement / alliance of which we know already. Madara finally getting his stone to the other side symbolizes him reacing to the other side in other words the river is like a gap between the two shores: Hashirama and Uchiha who are at war.

I wonder though how the currently unknown Hagoromo clan is part of all this, but I believe that we will get clarity to that later on. I believe that through some way Uchiha and Senju join their forces and destroy Hagoromo clan.

Recap of Naruto 622: To The Other Side

-Young Madara is asking Hashirama who he is, Hashirama says he can't tell his surname.

-Madara still can't get his throw to the other side and accuses Hashirama for that who gives in saying he's sorry.

-It's quickly revealed that Hashirama is mostly playing around.

-Soon they see a body floating along the river, Hashirama goes to it and sees that it's the crest of the Hagoromo clan.

-The two part their ways, Hashirama tells that that time he felt they were somehow close.

-Scene changes to a place where there are lots of Senju shinobis in their coffins getting ready to be buried. Someone called Kawarama Senju aged 7 has died and is being buried.

-It is revealed that the enemy was Hagoromo as well as Uchiha.

-The two other kids with Hashirama are Itama and Tobirama, Itama Senju is his younger brother.

-Hashirama has an argument with his father about war, shinobis etc.

-At this point Hashurama is planning an agreement, an alliance, which will happen in the future.

-Not long after Itama Senju died by the hands of Uchiha clan.

-Madara and Hashirama meet once again at the river. They talk about stuff regarding Shinobis, family and war.

-Madaras stone finally reached the other side.

One Piece Chapter 700: Aces Mera Mera Fruit

Comments:
It was an excellent chapter, even though I was slighty disappointed since I honestly waited for a little bit more. We got to see a little bit something that happened at other places, but nothing much. I believe this may be because this isn't a complete transition from one arc to another but sort of a continuation to Punk Hazard. Couple of pointers:

It seems that Jewelry Bonney has managed to escape from the Government and when we saw Akainu (or Sakazuki) once again it seemed like he was a bit younger than before. This is most likely because of Bonneys power.

Kid Pirates mentioned of "Abusa" who is a free writer and is apparently known to make some scoops lately, I'm pretty sure that this mention of him basically means that we will at some point meet him. I'll be keeping my eye on the future chapters if we manage to catch him in action before he is 'formally' introduced to us.

This chapter was somewhat interestingly named "his pace" which of course refers to Joker's ability to control the flow of discussions to his way. This is in my opinion on way for Oda to show how Joker actually managed to make it to the top of the underground businesses, very nice.

Also we were introduced to Commodore Brannew, who I think resembles pretty much Aokiji, or rather Kuzan. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd be related. Also we got a mention of Fujitora, which can be translated as "Pink Tiger". There of course has already been some speculation whether he has, like the previous admirals, some kind of Logia

It seems that we are introduced to the match ups of this arc. It's a rather unknown at this point how it will turn out, but it seems that Doflamingo has his own special group of people which represent suits of cards. Trevor we already saw clearly who seems to have some kind of slimy logia/paramecia: also Diamante was introduced who Doflamingo seems to keep in high regard. I believe Diamante will most likely be Zoros match up, it would suit him being hero of the colosseum and I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be some sort of swordsman.

And finally Doflamingo having Aces Fire Fruit, I think that he prepared some fruits at the war for the possibility of obtaining some new devil fruits. This is very interesting turn of events even though it was somewhat speculated beforehand, but if and when strawhats emerge victorious from this arc it will definitely be interesting to see who will finally get to eat the Fire fruit.

Recap of One Piece Chapter 700: His Pace

-News of Donquixote Doflamingo quitting from Shichibukai are spreading. Jewelry Bonney is eating pizza and reading the newspaper.

-Also Jinbei and most likely Crocodile are reading the paper.

-In the New World, Hideout of the Kid Pirate crew they wonder who is this free writer and how does he know about Kid pirates alliance. He speculates correctly that Luffy and Law are after Yonkou, but doesn't know which one of them.

-At Dressrosa Doflamingo answers to the Den Den Mushi and says that he has left the Shichibukai.

-Luffy yells at him saying that he is the one going to become the pirate king. Doflamingo asks where has he been for the last two years. He also mentions that he has something with him that he would be interested in. Luffy thinks he is witholding meat and Law stops him not getting into Doflamingos pace.

-Joker wants to check whether his business partner, Caesar Clown is safe.

-Trafalgar Law reveals their plan, 8 hours from nay on the solitary island north of Dressrosa, Green Bit, southeast beach they'll leave Caesar Clown there. Leaving Caesar there is sort of a decoy.

-Their real objective is to destroy the Smile Factory.

-Luffy gets all happy once again saying that he's ready for an adventure: he's looking forward to seeing Dressrosa as well as Wanokuni. After that there's a funny scene of Law getting sucked in his pace.

-Inside they are eating and Kinemon is talking that they went out in the sea to look for a place called Zou. Law mentions that his crew, comrades are waiting there. Kinemon tells how his fellow samurai Kanjuurou became hostage to cover for Kinemon.

-In the New World close to Red Line we are introduced to Commodore Brannew who talks about the Shichibukai.

-Current Shichibukai are "Hawkeye" Dracule Mihawk, "Ten Yasha" Donquixote Doflamingo, "Tyrant" Bartoholomew Kuma, "Pirate Empress" Boa Hancock, "Surgeon of Death" Trafalgar Law, "Clown Star" Buggy and the seventh man is apparently left secret for now.

-Akainu is there saying that he has sent Fujitora (new admilar most likely) somewhere.

-In Dressrosa Baby 5 is yelling for Trevor who appears near her. Trevor looks like a slimy guy who most likely has logia or paramecia.

-Inside the castle Doflamingo is in front of chairs which represent four suits of cards, spade, heart, diamond and club.

-Doflamingo is talking to Diamante, who is the hero of Coliseum and represents suit of diamond.

-Trevor appears and gives Doflamingo a box, who gives it to Diamante.

-Doflamingo is now holding the Mera Mera, Fire Devil Fruit which belonged to Ace. He says that Luffy for sure doesn't want anyone else to have it.

-Meanwhile, the Strawhat crew have arrived before the country of love and passion, Dressrosa.

Attack On Titan / Shingeki No Kyojin Review

Attack On Titan's setting is that perhaps the only remaining people are living inside a city that is surrounded by massive walls. They are constantly sending scouting legions outside which either don't return or return with massive losses. The 50m tall wall usually protects the people inside it unless a Titan attacks, which coincidentally happens in the first chapter. The titan manages to destroy a way for smaller giants to rampage around the city and that leads to this series protagonists, Eren Jaegers mother dying. After a couple of years Eren has joined in to the fight against the giants...

Shingeki no Kyojin has a pretty good idea: it portrays yet another scene of apocalypse for human kind and leaves some questions open such as where do they giants originate from.
Art of this series starts out at the beginning varying from bad to decent, but in my opinion it improves with time into pretty good (there are some sceneries that can be described as excellent) even though it sometimes looks like a bit presonalized and unpolished: it suits the series pretty well. What deserves some praising are the action scenes of the series, they have a good flow and are well made.

As for the characters I thought at first that it doesn't succeed well with them: The main characters somewhat manage to grow on the reader, but as for side characters most of them feel pretty much to be fodder for the giants to eat. It however may have been the authors intention since you can never know who is going to get eaten. I think that characters are one of this series' weak side, which thankfully gets covered somewhat up with a pretty good story-setup.

The story of Attack On Titan is the reason why I've read this series further: The story in my opinion doesn't pick up too quickly, but if you don't give up before the "happenings" really start then I can say that it's possible for you not to put down this manga for a while.
At the beginning it feels like there's a little bit too much unnecessary dialog which makes me want to skip some pages and that the author isn't focusing on the relevant things enough. If you can look through the flaws that this series has then you are up for a treat: the mystery part which involves the giants and there revelations around them were reason enough for me to continue reading. It's the perhaps the thing in which the author has really succeeded the best in this series and weirdly enough, that keeps surprisingly many readers satisfied. In my case the whole point of following this series may be summed up in finding out more of the giants which proves to be entertaining as the series progresses further, even though the action can't be classified as bad.

Magi Chapter 175: Aladdins Clever Tactic

Comments.

It's nice to see that the author managed to pull off something that I didn't even think of. I was thinking something a bit more "flashy", but for him to wash away the people with the help of sand was indeed pretty clever.

I have to say that I really loved the art of this chapter: there were lots of scenes that showed us the things that happened on the large scale. Basically when the author decide to do that then they really can't go wrong.

At this point it would seem that the Reim army is basically finished, but I'm a bit reluctant to believe that Mu Alexius would swallow this without putting up a fight: I think it's possible for them to try to do something before the war is truly finished.

Recap of Magi 175: Fighting Spirit

-We see some Alibaba at the beginning of the chapter: he recognizes Aladdin from far away

-Aladdin is shown in the in front of the three giants: the sight is pretty cool

-Mu Alexius is mentioning that it's impossible to stop the war without killing anyone.

-Aladdin is about to do something, Mu Alexius orders for the Reim army to advance towards Magnostadt.

-The three giants that Aladdin commands crumble and turn into waves of sand: the sand sweeps away the soldiers all the way to the shore and Mogamett says that now they can restore the barrier.

-Reim army realizes that they are at the starting pointand the barrier is totally restored.

-Aladdin breaks Reim armys fighting spirit by telling them that he can do that every single time if they try to advance.

-It seems that the Reim army realize that it's essentially impossible for them to proceed: Aladdin orders them to go back to their own country.

Hungry Joker Chapter 14: Nils' Mist Minotaur

Comments:
It was a surprisingly good chapter, even thoug there are couple of things that I'd like to point out:

First, my fear of Nils joining the group most likely became true. I most likely have said in one of my previous recap comments that I really don't like Nils and nothing has really changed. However if this is the way it's going to be then I'm seriously hoping for some character development in this series (though we did see some in this chapter) for Nils to man up or at least for the author to try to make some value to the reader about him.

Second, I really liked Nils' mist minotaur power: it honestly looked very cool and it seems that "mist" may be surprisingly reliable force to have. However (once again) the author managed to make something that at first looked very cool into something less cooler: why not keep the minotaur as a impressive monster rather than a comedy bit of making his face cute? Of course it could work if the author plays it well, but what I've seen so far, I doubt it.

I'm still waiting for those awesome twists and plot developments, hopefully the character introductions are pretty much over or if the author is planning to add one more uninteresting character to the group then I don't know what to do.

Recap of Hungry Joker 14: The Grandmother

-Haiji and his group are in a pinch. Dodomekis is making fun of Nils and saying that he's a man with a weak spirit

-Dodomekis kicks Nils in to the gound

-Suddenly Nils' grandma appears: she says that she's just a mist vision she made just before dying.

-She raises her hat and shows the Eureka explaining that it is the source of their familys power. On her last moments she used its powers to create that labyrinth. She then gives the Eureka to Nils.

-The mist then disappears and all of them find themselves on an open meadow.

-Nils then gets a bit angry to Dodomekis and creates a mist minotaur to fight for him.

-Dodomekis is powerless against the mist 'cow' and tries to attack the adapter, Nils.

-Haiji however manages to stop him by using his force of gravity.

-It's time for their shared experiment.

Kamisama No Iutoori Ni (II) Review: Another Perspective to the Original One

When I'm writing this there is 5 chapter released of Kamisama no Iutoori 2
Kamisama no Iutoori II tells us basically another perspective to the first Kamisama no Iutoori. It begins in a class where Aoyama and Akashi have an argument which ends up in Akashi leaving early from school. Little did he know that just after he left the school the game of Daruma-San Has Fallen began...

Basically the first couple of chapters show us an alternative perspective to the same Daruma-san game which we encountered in the first Kamisama no Iutoori. However after that we get to see what happens to those who skipped school that day and it just happens that Akashi was one of those.

Art of this series is as good as the first one, I can say that it's pretty much excellent since I really can't say how I would improve it. The author has shown his skills before and now he continues to make terrific work with this manga.

As for the characters I  think that this manga, understandably, is very similar to the earlier one so from my point of view the characters are not that important, even though I ended up liking the first ones pretty much. There has only been 5 chapters so far so there hasn't even been any time for character chemistry to be born. If the author manages to keep the quality of the characters at the same level then I will be certainly satisfied. However at this point the characters haven't really lived up to my expectations, so I'll keep the points low for new. I'll be updating this later if some kind of change happens.

Like the first one, this one will also be very story dependant: it still reminds me very much of Gantz where for several hundreds of chapters we had no idea why all the things that happened, did happen. It's pretty much the same thing with Kamisama no Iutoori and the first one really managed to raise some questions and interest: I hope that the author manages to give some answers, but not too much of course to keep me and other readers interested for several chapters to come. I have pretty much high hopes for this manga and I'm hoping that it will be at least as interesting as the first one. It's still a bit early to tell.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi Chapter 511: Miu and the Glowing Eyes

Comments:
In my opinion not a very good chapter: the only good thing might have just been the Ryuusui Seikuuken which looked very nice when Kenichi ran past Berserker.

However all this emotional stuff of Kenichi trying to yell to Miu not to fall into Jenazard's curse felt a bit forced, but it's allright: what I really don't understand it's the glow or the shine in Miu's eyes: does it just mean that Kenichi's words reached her or is there another meaning for it. I hope for the latter since using such a way to display that kind of stuff feels a bit awkward even though the author may have wanted to exaggerate that kind of stuff.

If I'd have to look for some good things in this chapter it's that now we should be start getting over the whole uninteresting Miu vs. Rimi fight and then move on to Kenichi beating the crap out of Berserker.

Recap of Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 511: Fly!

-Miu and Rimi are fighting right above Kenichi and Berserker

-Ryuuto arrives to the spot with his weelchair

-Kenichi realizes that Miu's other personality created by Junazard is about to take over.

-Kenichi almost gets hit by Berserker but uses Ryuusui Seikuuken and runs past him. Ryuuto is thinking that whenever Miu is in a pinch Kenichi gets more power.

-Miu gets thrown around by Rimi while Kenichi tries to yell to her some emotional stuff

-Finally when Rimi tries to hit her in the face Miu manages to counter

-Mius eyes are glowing for some reason, which means that Kenichi's words reached her.

Bleach Chapter 527: The End of Ichigos Journey

Comments:
As I was saying last week of week before that that Bleach really needs at least some decent plot developments and my wishes were answered very quickly!

Zaraki Kenpachis Zanpakuto awakening is definitely a pleasant surprise, I hadn't even thought of that when I was only thinking how pointless his and Unohana Yachirus fight was, but it's pleasant to see that it did serve a higher purpose. If I'd have to speculate about his bankai it could be somewhat similar to Unohanas, since it could be linked to her death somehow. We'll have to see.

Ichigos failure at Oetsus test is also a pleasant surprise: of course a fan would have rooted for Ichigo to pass these kinds of tests with shining marks, but it's different with me. This plot development actually managed to surprise me and really got me thinking, what now. Things are not going as straightforward as it would have seemed in the first place and if that is not a good thing then I don't know what is. I'm hoping that Kubo Tite will be able to upkeep this kind of flow for chapters to come.

Recap of Bleach 527: Eliminate From Heaven

-Zarakis and Unohanas fight has ran its course. Zaraki Kenpachi is yelling for her not to die.

-Zaraki Kenpachi is hearing someones voice. It's obviously his Zanpakutou "awakening" telling Zaraki its name.

-Meanwhile at Oetsus place Renji has managed to survive his test unlike Ichigo

-Ichigo gets sent somewhere outside of the place.

Toriko Chapter 223: Nitro Rampage etc

Comments:
First chapter in a while that didn't have me going, don't know why. We got some Nitro rampage that I expected since seeing it coming next week, but what really disappointed me was in example Zaragiras design: he looks a lot like some cheap Dragonball Z antagonist or something like that. A bit forced character design if I may say. Also Livebearer getting saved in such a cheap manner also disappointed me a bit: it would have certainly been an fitting end for him to be severed after all.

The idea of the scum beasts using food honor is definitely an interesting consept: I wonder how they have learned it :P They will undoubtly be some ferocious enemies, but I'm wondering who will fight against them.

Chiru being a woman was also revealed in this chapter, but unlike some of the characters I didn't think it was anything special: in fact I managed to forget already who she was and had to go check from Toriko wiki.

Recap of Toriko 223: Targeted Chefs!!

-Nitro is set free

-Nitro instantly Yuda either killing him or making him unconscious.

-It then attacks another chef and is seen having wings: something that we haven't seen before.

-Livebearer attacks Nitro with "Brain Cut" making only his blades go dull.

-Livebearer then gets hit by Nitro and is cut in half.

-Couple of Saiseya however are awake: they use Nikkou Botaru to flash the Nitros eyes and then using Tai Nori (Bdoy Glue) and Doctor Aloe to put Livebearer in one piece once again.

-Powerful Scum Beasts have also appeared that can even use food honor.

-We are introduced to Bishokukai Food Management Office Chief Zaragira who throws chinese emperor inside a cage beast.

-After that Bishokukai Talent Scout Gur is also introduced.

-Chiru finally reveals her face revealing also that she is in fact a girl unlike people thought.

-We see Komatsu getting saved by the flying penguin, Yunyun.

-Coco vs Grinpatch is going on and Coco is seen being a bit hurt: Grinpatch is also seen "smoking" and having got some damage even though he's saying that he wants to eat more of Cocos poison
