One Piece Chapter 699: King Of Dressrosa

Comments:
As expected from Oda, an excellent chapter once again. It's great to see that he managed to put in a lot of stuff in one chapter for us to enjoy. As I predicted last time, Doflamingo vs. Kuzan fight didn't happen after all since it wouldn't have made much sense for them to fight. Doflamingo was wise enough to back off. Buffalos remark that it's good that Doflamingo's heart wasn't frozen may either hint that it's somehow connected to his ability or that it basically means that he doesn't lose consciousness in that case.

Somehow this part got to me: I recall Aokiji being huge compared to the strawhats when they first met at the weird island with tall trees (somewhere around Foxy the Silver Fox Arc), but Doflamingo is pretty huge even compared to Kuzan.

It's interesting what Doflamingo meant when he asked what Kuzan is? After Kuzan had retired from the World Government he's started to see lots of corruption that is going on there it's possible that Kuzan has joined the Revolutiounaries. There's also lots of hinting that Kuzan has some kind of ties to the underground businessess, which is pretty interesting in itself: it may be that when the fight between Aokiji and Akainu happened it wasn't just for the spot of the Fleet Admiral. And By the way, the penguin of Kuzan is awesome.

As it was revealed before the timeskip, Sakazuki did put up a headquartes in the new world because the world is starting to shift: it seems the previous Yonkou didn't pose enough threat for World Government to be concerned with the New World, or maybe it's just that Sakazuki just wants to spread his justice.

The Wano arc is looking more and more probable: Kinemon was fighting Zoro about the sword that he has which he picked up at Thriller Bark from Swordsman Ryuuma. It's great for Oda to make stuff like this happen that "dates" back to the as far as Thriller Barks events.

Donquixote Doflamingo renouncing as the King of Dressrosa can mean couple of things: first, Doflaming is of Royal Descent which I think will get more clarifying as the story goes on: maybe he's even a descendant of one of the Gorosei (most likely not, but it's good to speculate). Second point is that he has to renounce because he can't reside there: from now on the WG is going to hunt him down and the Dressrosa will most likely be the first place that they come to check for him. Also him being a King explains all that "Young Master" stuff that his underlings were saying.

As for the Alliance on Law / Strawhat crew I believe that Doflamingo leaked that to the press at the same time as he announced his retirement form the Shichibukai, just to put small stick between their wheels. Of course this means that Law retires from the Shichibukai as well. I love it how One Piece manages to combine raw politics and power struggles in its storyline.

Oh yes, the next chapter that will be One Piece Chapter 700 will most likely be an amazing one. A arc has just ended and we are at the point where some new characters are introduced and we will hear news from around the world what is going on.We may finally be getting introduced to Kaidou or the new Admirals, but I'd imagine more like Kaidou since he could be hearing about Doflamingo stopping the shipments of Smile to him and being angry about it.
For reference this is what has previously happened on even chapters:
100: Chapters name was "Beginning of the Legend" and in this chapter we see Dragon for the first time. He also saves Luffy from Smoker and allows the Strawhats to go for their amazing adventure on the Grand Line.
200: Nothing special in this chapter: Luffy manages to punch Crocodile for the first time.
300: Skypiea arc ends with party, Enel going with Maxim to the moon etc.
400: Nothing special in this one. Strawhats are about to fight the CP9.
500: This was an incredible chapter: Rogers first mate Silvers Rayleigh was introduced. I think it was no coincidence that it just happened to be the 500th chapter.
600: This is the third chapter which was released after the timeskip and basically is a symbol for the new departing for the new adventure.

We are up for a treat, I believe.

Recap of One Piece Chapter 699: Morning Paper:

-It's Aokiji versus Donquixote Doflamingo

-Doflamingo tries to finish Smoker, but Kuzan manages to freeze him right before that.

-Doflamingo breaks off the ice and buffalo is happy that his heart wasn't frozen yet.

-Donquixote Doflamingo backs off and asks Kuzan what is he and that the rumours aren't good.

-Kuzan has managed to get Smoker treated and they are talking on Punk Hazard: Kuzan is saying that he's starting to see certain things when he's not with them any more.

-Smoker is wondering how Kuzan, former admiral is connected to the underground businessess and he doesn't give an answer to that.

-Kuzan says that Smoker shouldn't let his eyes off Doflamingo, since as a warlord he's currently Dressrosa's King. He advices Smoker to tell Sakazuki (Akainu) and have him detach the admirals.

-Sakazuki has started his new marine Headquarters (HQ) in the New World

-Kinemon is attacking Zoro saying that he disturbed the grave of Wano's hero because Zoro has Swordsman Ryuuma's Shuusui

-Robin being in bath with Momonosuke

-Funny (and hot!) scene with Momonosuke being in bath with Robin and Brook, Sanji and Kinemon all being mad about it.

-Momonosuke (while hugging Nami's boob) is obviously devious about this, so freaking funny stuff.

-Morning comes and along with it the Morning Paper: it says that Donquixote Doflamingo withdraws from the Seven Warlords, in other words, Shichibukai. That basically means that he's also renouncing as King of Dressrosa.

-The paper also announces the alliance between Trafalgar Law and the Strawhat crew

-There's also an alliance between Eustass Kid, Scratchman Apoo and Basil Hawkins, as in The Kid Pirates, The On Air Pirates and The Hawkins Pirates. Eustass Kid had 470 million beli bounty.

- Last scene is where Doflamingo is sitting reading a book and then the Law's Den Den Mushi rings.
