Aladdin finally removes his "shackles", gems in his hands which stop his 'attraction' of rukh all around. He realizes that he isn't getting any magoi from the rukh, but thinks that it must be because it will take a little while to return back to normal because the flow has been stopped for so long.
A lot of other magicians come and assist Aladdin and Titus and they surround the fanalis corps completely. Mu Alexius says to them that they will never retreat and will attack without stopping until they conquer the capital.
We are shown a small tactical picture which shows us all the locations in the battlefield for Reim army, Fanalis corps, Aladdin, Magicians etc.
The Fanalis corps aren't really affected by the magicians powers, they keep pressing on by dodging and evading their attacks.
It seems that Aladdin gets an idea, him and all the magicians rise up and fire shots from the above to the fanalis corps, without hitting though.
It's a bit unclear but it seems that the magicians made a tunnel by shooting to the ground to stop the fanalis corps, but it doesn't seem to affect them much.
This point to me was very unclear when reading this chapter for the first time, at first I thought the magicians had conjured like a wall of ice to stop the fanalis but it was in fact a tunnel that they were making by shooting in the ground. It was a bit unclear decicion from the author to do that, but it's fine.
The corps progress steadily, but then the wall of earth cracks and then huge amounts of water breaks out on them like a big dam breaking apart. Magicians hand connected a "tunnel" with the river. Aladdin remembered that Morgiana wasn't any good with water so maybe it would effective against Fanalis corps.
This wasn't in my opinion the best way to deal with the fanalis corps, which were a bit too hyped for them to be beaten with a scheme like this, well, it's just a minor detail in the entirety, so not much harm done :P
Indeed the fanalis corps rise from the water saying that the magicians must be stupid to think that it would really stop them.
However the magicians are preparing their next attack: they fire a huge shot of lightening to the fanalis corps and that hits them very well. One of magicians axplain to us how all of the nature is their ally and how they are able to operate huge formulas hence getting their power multiplied.
Something is going on with Aladdin at the of the chapter, it may be that his Magi powers are finally returning.
Will be continued in chapter 173
Conclusion There's really not much to say about this weeks chapter, since not much to comment happened. As I said before the fanalis corps were a bit too hyped for them to be beaten like this, but of course at least Mu Alexius will be making a "comeback" from this. I'll be interested in seeing in which way the war progressess in the next chapter, since Aladdin seems to either to be getting his Magi powers back or something is wrong, I can't really say from the looks of the final page of the chapter. Maybe it's left up to interpretation?
