Tower of God Chapter 131 (vol 2 ch 51): Traitors of FUG

Comments

Koon and Baam finally had managed to meet, but the crazy psycho bitch XiaXia managed to ruin everything. I can't even predict whether or not Koon is alive since the author SIU is such a troll that I can't really say. Of course I hope that Koon is alive, but only time will tell.. maybe he will make a Baam-like appearance on higher floor after being in the shadows for several years.. maybe having some injuries like missing a hand from the explosion or having some scars on his face.

It's interesting to see what Baam will do now - it's obvious that this will affect him in some way, maybe he will figure out a plan to take revenge on FUG or something like that. Yeah, I would like that.

Then there's the traitors inside Koon's team, which didn't come to me as a surprise, it was obvious that this trap wasn't something that happened by accident, so it was only natural for the traitors to be in the team. However their relationship with Rachel remains a mystery to me now. It's also sad that Dan had to meet his end, since he was a interesting character in my opinion.

Recap:
-The hand or Arlene if exploding, Baam yells for Mr. Koon that it's a trap.

-It seems that Baam is being contained inside a boulder

-Koon finally recognizes Baam and then the whole hand of arlene explodes.

-Koon's team members Apple and Michael are revealed as traitors belonging to FUG. Edin dan is on the ground tied up.

-Apple and Michael were ordered to infiltrate Koon's team and kill him. They were behind the whole trap at Hand of Arlene.

-Rachel comes inside saying that they should let Edin Dan live. She says to Dan that they should climb the tower together.

-Dan rejects her and Rachel then kills him.

-At the ruins of Hand of Arlene Baam, Novick and Ran are alive: Baam is devastated because of the death of Koon.

28F Demon of the Right arm finished.

Tower of God 130 (v2 50): Conspiracy of FUG

Recap

Koon is at the entrance watching everything that is going on.

Baam watches silently at Koon, who does not recognize who he is.

Suddenly Rabbit ears, Xia Xia yells to them to stop while holding a detonator. She says that she installed a bomb in the arlene's hand and if she presses that button everyone will die.

Baam is wondering what is going on and suddenly one of Xia Xia's Light cubes beeps and shows a message to Baam: saying that if he doesn't stay stll everyone will die, it also says that she knows that he's slayer candidate.

She says to Cassano to come out and that he does, he then goes and grabs Horyang on his shoulder.

The cube is now saying that if Baam follows them they will spare Horyang, and if not he will die. It was trap from the beginning.

Koon is yelling to them that what kind of trap this is and who they were aiming for.

Xia Xia starts talking that they are just screening personnel and introduces Jyu Viole Grace, who's soon to be FUG's slayer, to Koon.

Xia Xia continues her story and someone came telling her that there's someone they want killed, someone who could be a threat to the FUG and that man is Koon Agero Aegis. She says that the plan was to kill Koon all the time.

Baam realizes what is going on and then he joins into Xia Xia's story. He however modifies it a bit: he says that he wants Koon to escape with his tail between his legs.

Koon however immediately realizes that Baam is being incongruent with his act.

Then Koon's allies act quickly and manage to shoot the detonator out of Xia's hand.

Baam however almost instantly retrieves it and promises to kill them all if they play with his friends' lives again.

Xia however still decides to detonate the bombs and There's a huge explosion.

Baam yells for Koon at the middle of it all who then realizes that he is in fact.. Baam.

Comments

What a great chapter this week, last week I imagined Koon instantly recognizing Baam, but this makes more sense: Baam's looks and attitude has changed tremendously.

In a way this chapter was a bit should I say, deceptive and a bit unclear. The whole thing started with Horyang searching for his Devil of the Right Arm brother and Baam following him. Koon's people were there after the bounty IIRC.

So the conclusion for this "trap" was in my opinion that as the informant Xia Xia knew of Baams and Koons previous relationship she had to figure something out to for those two not to meet or at least recognize each other not to endanger Baams career as slayer. She being mad I don't understand completely, except that, well, she's just mad and wants to blow things up. It's safe to say that Xia Xia ordered the assassination of Koon outside and now she most likely wants him killed with the explosion.

However the whole point of Cassano and Xia Xia being companions trivials me pretty much, hopefully we get some clarity to that one as the story progresses.

In the end, SIU managed to make once again a great twist in to this series, it truly is a pleasure to read it.

Tower of God Vol2 Ch47 (127): Ambush and Devils of the right hand

Recap:

At the beginning of the chapter, Koon gets suddenly ambushed - something pierces his heart.

Scene changes to Xiaxia lighthouse, where Viole is visiting her for information. He apparently asked about Horyang and she tells her that he stopped there before. Viole also finds out that some black-haired big guy also came looking for the Devil of the right hand, who is the person in the picture. She tells Viole that they went to Arlene's hand.

And finally, we get to Arlene's hand where Horyang (or Beniamino Ilmar), Beniamino Cassano and Koon's allies are going to start fighting.

We get some sweet eye candy here when Cassano attacks Ran and dodges Novick's attack. Cassano introduces himself (as Venimiano Cassano, in the scan that I'm reading) as the Devil of the Right Hand even though he uses his left hand.

Final scene changes back to Koon: after he's attacked someone snake-like person raises from the sand while Koon's still lying on the ground. Ambusher speaks to himself and reveals that he had been collecting a bounty and falls into a scheme of Koon: he "wakes up" and asks who sent him.

Koon was apparently saved by his armor and thinks that maybe his father gave it to him. He's not sure. Fight between the assassin and Koon begins and unfortunately the chapter ends here.

Comments and predictions:

It was a good chapter and I enjoyed the eye candy that we got regarding Cassano, Rand and Novick. We got couple of pointers here, which may affect storyline to come: Why is Koon targeted, who wants his head? I can't but to wonder who's got so much grudge against him so that they would put a bounty up for him.

The another "pointer" is more like a prediction, I think that Koon overpowers the snake guy, then finally arrives at the same time with Baam at the Arlene's hand. Koon may not recognize him at first, but I think this could be a suitable time for a meeting for two of them. If this happens I can't but to praise SIU (Slave in Utero), since I though that this could be sort of "filler" arc before the workshop battle, but this kind of important meeting between two main characters of the story after many years is intriguing.

It can't be helped: unfortunately we have to wait for the chapters to come,

Tower of God: Review - Definitely recommended

At first I was very reluctant to read Tower of God because of form in which it is published. I simply freaked out because of those long pages and being used to manga, all those colors. Thank god it was only a matter of getting used to it. I've read all chapters of Tower of God which have been published in the span of couple of days and I have to say that I'm really happy that I finally got over my anxiety of reading this splendid webcomic.

Tower of God starts with introduction of the tower: It's said that once you manage to climb on top of the tower you may achieve anything you desire. Our story starts Baam and Lahel (later translated as Rachel), who seem to be in some sort of a cave. Rachel disappears right under Baam saying she's going to climb the tower. Baam says that he's going to follow her to death, hence he opens the door to the Tower to climb it. Inside he finds that Rachel isn't anywhere to be found and that him coming in to the tower isn't anything usual - he's considered as "irregular", someone who open the doors to get inside instead of getting chosen by rulers of the tower. In past all irregulars have been exceptionally powerful, but Baam is nothing like that. Not long after the tower shows it true colors: it's nothing sort of a deadly competition and backstabbing..

Tower of God is part of Talse uzer story.

I'd say that the art gets after (very rough esimate) 30 chapters from good to very good. Fights are very well drawn and once you get used to the colorful world they are such a eye candy, especially on the second part of the series.  If you've usually used to reading black and white manga, don't get scared because of the very different form of showing us the story. I have to say that this way of drawing actually brings the story in some cases more alive than in traditional manga!

Characters of this series are definitely enjoyable. Some of their goodness however comes from the story twists, which can of course be said to be character qualities in some way also. Not much to say about the people in this series: they are simply good, SIU certainly knows what he does when he's making this webcomic for people to enjoy.

Well, what can I say about the story? I could say that it's pre-set idea isn't anything special at first, but it will be getting more complex (but easy to understand) pretty soon. It's truly entertaining story which has very good twists. What I like about this series is that even though it sort of is pretty "generic" shonen because of it's idea of getting stronger through advancing the towers floors the immense power difference between top people of the towers is very well designed and relied to readers through work of story and art. It basically shows us unlimited potential of this story and makes it interesting. I've heard people also say that this can be a bit humorous read - it's usually of secondary importance for me, but I can imagine that some people find it important.

It's also great to see that the author is actively blogging and communicating with his fans. Through his communication with the fans, from which the important parts are fortunately translated we get a lots of "background" information about the tower, it's design and especially it's residents.
