Soul Eater Chapter 107: Two lines of Sanzu

Comments

The battle against Kishin finally begin for real. The trio of Maka, Black star and Kid have managed to keep Kishin's madness at hold with teamwork, which makes them able to even fight against him. I think that Maka and Black Star will be falling behind Kid when he really takes the stage to himself. I believe that in less than 10 chapters while fighting the Kishin he will awaken the three lines of Sanzu followed by Shinigami's death.

I think that the Lines of Sanzu represent powers of the Shinigami awakening in one and the reason why father Shinigami will die after the three lines connect is most likely because there can only be one shinigami at once.

I believe that Kid will at that point awaken powers almost at great as Shinigami may have had in the past and finally the Kid, Maka and Black star will kill the kishin with team work.

Recap of Soul Eater 107: Dark Side Of The Moon IV

-Crona's soul response disappeared, the Kishin took him over.

-Asura Kishin awakens from his 'ball' he says that he has come to eliminate shinigami's messenger..

-Death the Kid arrives on the moon.

-Spirit says that Maka cannot use papa to damage Kishin

-Maka and Soul ("Eater" Evans) decide to give it a try.

-Kishin attacks them with Vajura that makes him spit a dagger and attack with it. Maka, Black Star and Kid deflect it.

-Black Star attacks with Kuroboshi Zero "Masamune" Mugen seemingly hurting Kishin.

-Kishin remarks that his power reminds him of that guy's "Power" which I believe refers to Black Star's father.
-Kid connects 2 of his lines of Sanzu, which make father Shinigami's mask crack back on the earth. Shinigami and Excalibur are talking and hinting strongly towards that Shinigami will die once Kid connects three lines of Sanzu.

Soul Eater 106: Bond of a father and child

Recap of chapter 106 The Dark Side of the Moon III:

Battle against Chrona and Kishin continues.

Maka, Blackstar and their weapons are facing a problem: they can't synchronize in the presence of Chrona.

Blackstar attacks Chrona with Soul Dominance, but it doesn't have any effect. Soul is trying desperately synch with Maka by playing his piano without success.

Chrona attacks continuously with throns - Maka and Blackstar seem a little overpowered of Chrona until his father Spirit intervenes. He says that Maka has to use papa for this fight, cool. She's reluctant because their wavelength shouldn't be able to synch, but that won't pose a problem, because they are father and child.

Maka and Spirit charge against Crona who uses Thorn Defence and manages to defend her/himself, Crona is shouting over and over why they manage to synchronize.

Maka uses Witch Hunter and Demon Hunter consecutively.

Crona eyes start widening and s/he's telling them that s/he killed her/his own mother, Medusa. Crona doesn't have such a bond that Maka and Spirit currently use.

Finally Crona utters a lot of nonsense about his relationship with Medusa and forms sort of a "ball" or cocoon from which Kishin emerges.

Chapter ends and will continue in Soul Eater 107

Comments and Predictions

A decent chapter, nothing special in this one except for Kishin finally emerging. We got to see Maka fight with Death Scythe and performing couple of skills which had no effect. There's really no much to say about chapter 106.

As for predictions, I think this will follow a traditional road: Kishin somewhat overpowers our heroes and they can't manage to do anything. It will be interesting to see what our heroes manage to make out of this, they may even retreat once more.

Crona, Black Star and Maka fighting

In Soul Eater 105 I got a small vibe that Soul Eater isn't necessarily going to continue for long - dunno why. All these plot developments ie. like how Crona swallowed Kishin haven't been much to my liking. Of course the reason may be that I never really liked Crona as a character and now she's been made main antagonist?

I have to praise Soul Eater little with as its art is top notch. It's currently the only enjoyable thing about it: the plot and the characters no longer have good impact to me.

Soul Eater, pretty decent shonen

I made a mistake of watching anime before manga. Even without comparing the two anime was really terrible. I'm actually pretty proud of myself having finished all the little over 50 episodes. They changed the plot from the original to something unimaginably bad and I remember how I had to after watching that to check from manga did the artist really make something that undigestable: thank god he didn't.

Soul Eater manga which is still going on is actually pretty good compared to the anime adaptation. Story goes on in a nice flow and art looks good. Too bad that the anime left such a crappy taste in my mouth that it must have affected to my enjoyment of the manga. Anyways it's pretty decent shonen, nothing less.
