Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi Chapter 511: Miu and the Glowing Eyes

Comments:
In my opinion not a very good chapter: the only good thing might have just been the Ryuusui Seikuuken which looked very nice when Kenichi ran past Berserker.

However all this emotional stuff of Kenichi trying to yell to Miu not to fall into Jenazard's curse felt a bit forced, but it's allright: what I really don't understand it's the glow or the shine in Miu's eyes: does it just mean that Kenichi's words reached her or is there another meaning for it. I hope for the latter since using such a way to display that kind of stuff feels a bit awkward even though the author may have wanted to exaggerate that kind of stuff.

If I'd have to look for some good things in this chapter it's that now we should be start getting over the whole uninteresting Miu vs. Rimi fight and then move on to Kenichi beating the crap out of Berserker.

Recap of Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 511: Fly!

-Miu and Rimi are fighting right above Kenichi and Berserker

-Ryuuto arrives to the spot with his weelchair

-Kenichi realizes that Miu's other personality created by Junazard is about to take over.

-Kenichi almost gets hit by Berserker but uses Ryuusui Seikuuken and runs past him. Ryuuto is thinking that whenever Miu is in a pinch Kenichi gets more power.

-Miu gets thrown around by Rimi while Kenichi tries to yell to her some emotional stuff

-Finally when Rimi tries to hit her in the face Miu manages to counter

-Mius eyes are glowing for some reason, which means that Kenichi's words reached her.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 510: Worst chapter ever

Comments:

Honestly? What a disappointing chapter, there was absolutely nothing else than useless pages, little to no build up and just a little bit fanservice which I'm not very fond of when used so carelessly. This chapter didn't leave me wanting more, which in my opinion hurts this series in a way: the author is still focusing too much on the unimportant side characters (shinpaku alliance) who simply aren't interesting enough. Thank god the alien dude whose name I've forgotten isn't anywhere near currently.

Kenichi has been the best with all the Ryozanpaku masters, Kenichi's growth etc., but current happenings are just a bad excuse not to focus on the good things.

Well, no can do but to "wait" as in just read until it ends or gets better.

Recap of Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 510

-Rimi and Miu are fighting, Miu releasing her Dou Ki is essentially on a rampage.

-If Rimi makes even one mistake she will lose, but she's determined to win. She manages to punch Miu back.

-Someplace else Odin is still holdin Freya between the wheel of his wheelchair.

-Kushinada had thrown Ukita to the ground

-Freya got her hands out of the wheelchair

-Kisara attacks Kushinada but gets thrown to the wall behind her.

-It's now Kisara and Ukita versus Kushinada. Kisara says that she's about to learn some new martial art after being thrown couple of times.

-Meanwhile, Rimi and Miu are fighting and they arrive where Berserker and Kenichi are having their own battle.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 509: The only grappling move in boxing

Comments

Not what I expected, but the result in Takeda vs. Lugh fight was a decent one. I think that it's pretty wise from the author no to kill characters left and right to make it impact more when a character is actually killed to make it more effective.

In the end nothing special in chapter 509: good guys win as always, but I have to say that Lugh was an interesting character in terms of his fighting ability. I liked his way of fighting with using precise attacks to the joints, but the "ki sensing" ability went a bit overboard but not too much.

Recap of Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 509: Life and death decided in an instant

The battle between Takeda and Lugh is nearing its end.

Takeda starts hitting with several Warp punches continuously. Kensei's making a notion how he broke Lugh's ribs.

Lugh however maanged to grab a hold of Takedas left hand and puts his hand at the same time behind his neck to target Takedas medulla. The aim is to get Takeda to take a step back and kill him by that.

However Takeda steps forward instead and uses the only grappling move in boxing: clinch.

Takeda then finishes Lugh with a pressing liver blow hitting with his both hands and is defeated.

Kensei starts walking away saying that when a person suffers a major loss his life as a martial artist usually ends.

Takeda doesn't agree with this referring to his battle with Kenichi.

The last page implies that next chapter we will be focusing on Miu and Rimi and their battle in which it seems that only clothes are damaged by their attacks.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 508: Takeda Releasing Sei Ki

Recap and Comments of Chapter 508: The Mastermind Appears

Lugh's master, Kensei appears. He's making a mention how touching it is to see young lives fighting each other to decide who is superior. He wants Lugh and Takeda continue their death fight.
This is a bit interesting, I never imagined that a fight "unimportant" as this could turn out to be a death fight, but there is a possibility for it to end without either of them dying

Kensei then talks about the shifts the impact point of ki which Takeda uses and that reminds him of Kushinada's Jujutsu. Kushinada mostly used her ki or making clones of herself.

Kensei is rambling a little bit here, Takeda senses that he doesn't let off an evil aura since he must love martial arts just so much.

The battle between Lugh and Takeda continues, Lugh uses left leg subluxation against him, Takeda realizes he's in a pinch since he has lost lots of blood so he has to finish this fast.

Takeda manages to hit Lugh with a warp punch (temp) straight in to his face, but then his hand gets squeezed in between Lugh's head and shoulder.

Takeda counters with an uppercut and it hits very well. Takeda managed to get out of a bad situation.

Takeda doesn't realize that his left arm had been broken until Kensei notifies him of it.
Wow, at which point did he manage to actually break Takedas wrist? Now Lugh has a serious advantage to his favor.  I think I predicted Lugh breaking one of his arms a chapter or a couple ago.

So Lugh was all the time aiming for his left arm. He speaks about hwo his left arm symbolizes a boxer's existence and in the end his own life.

Takeda is nothing sort of enraged and then he releases ki on his own.
Takeda releasing ki is a great view, I have to admit. The theme for all the fights that are happening at this theme park seems to be so far "ki" and the usage of it in a fight.

Lugh is a bit scared of his Sei ki. Kensei says to him that if he doesn't finish him he may actually lose, but Lugh intends to finish him with his next move, no matter if he dies himself as well.

In the next Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 509 it's time for grand conclusion of Takeda versus Lugh, does one of them actually die?

This chapter was a surprisingly good one. Seeing Keinsei once for a while is always cool, but makes me wonder does he actually play any important part of the story at this point coming here? He just mainly spoke some unrelevant stuff and gave us some infomational value, but maybe his only reason to come was to just watch a fight of his disciple.

As for prediction for the next chapter I think it's possible for one of them to die - both are honestly very unimportant characters which in my opinion increases the chances for the mangaka to sacrifice one of them for a good story twist. I'd say chances are that there's two options, either one of them dies or they somehow get interrupted just as they are going for the deadly blow. Anyway, next chapter will most likely be a good one.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 507: Takeda overpowering Lugh

Recap of HSDK Chapter 507: Shiba's hint

Takeda vs. Submission man Lugh fight continues: Takeda's mumbling something in front of a mirror. Lugh proceeds to catch Takedas arm, but hesitates. Takeda actually provokes him to catch the arm, for some reason.

Lugh doesn't waver from this and takes the arm and spins it back. He is certain that he destroyed Takedas left arm, but the arm quickly vanishes from his grip.

Takeda suddenly throws a Phantom Left Straight straight to Lugh's face with the same left arm that was "destroyed" a moment ago.

Lugh doesn't get why that happened, but he soon uses Ogata Zajuuori (Sitting Break) and the same thing happens: he was sure that he had gotten grip of Takeda, but was somehow mistaken.

Takeda can't hold it inside and blabbers the solution: he used the same application of ki as Lugh: what he though he gripped wasn't his left arm but the ki released by his left arm. And that is the reason why Lugh was so good at sensing other people's presence, now it's taken advantage of.

Shiba actually taught this Anti-weapon special technique, but Takeda only grasped of it just now.

Takeda proceeds to hit Lugh with Warp Punch (Temporary) and it's effective. It's power comes from "hitting through" the target, so that it surpasses the opponent's expectation. So the better Takedas opponent's sensor is the harder he will hit him.

Lugh says that he already came up with a counter only after being overpowered by Takeda.

Just at the end of the chapter outside the mirror house a someone's standing right beside them: it's Lugh's master, Isshinsai Ogata.

Comments

No particular comments for this, a decent chapter: I wonder what the Lugh's master's function in this equation is. I think that after Takeda beats Lugh he will just grab Lugh with him and go spank him or something.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 506: Takeda vs. Lugh

Recap of HSDK 506: Devouring each other

Takeda vs. Lugh fight finally heats up.

Lugh says that he recently realized that as a martial artist becoming stronger means to devour other martial artists' chances. He intends to devour Takeda's future

Lugh finally begins to attack and this time he solely focuses on Takedas joints moving them out of place. He attacks with Ogata school dappa kyokushi literally meaning "Hitting wave of extreme control" thus dislocating Takedas knee and shoulder.

Takeda asks whether Lugh's stance is of the satsujinken users. Lugh's resolve is clear, but Takeda now gets his own: he as a katsujinken user will devour Lugh because he doesn't want people like him roam this world.

Takeda suddenly runs away - he realises that he can't beat Lugh as of now. He gets inside some place only to realise that he has run into a mirror house, the worst place to fight against blind man.

Lugh seems to overpower Takeda who only manages to break mirrors while getting his joints dislocated.

At the end of chapter 506 Takeda almost hits Lugh, sees some pieces of mirrors in the ground and realizes something. He punches air and got some sort of epiphany.

Takeda vs. Lugh will continue in chapter 507.

Comments and predictions:

I honestly don't have much to say about this one. Some basic fighting going on, but what's funny is how Takeda managed to run into only place where he's in complete disadvantage: mirror house. I wonder what Takeda realized with his punches, it's most likely got something to do that will help him win over Lugh. I think we will see him prevailing over the blind submission man in History's strongest disciple Kenichi: 507.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 505: Lugh the submission man

Recap

Odin has Kisara trapped from her hands. He's checking out Miu's and Rimi's fight noticing their Dou Ki.

Then he proceeds talking about Lugh how he is potentially the most outstanding of all Yomi because of his blindness. He talks about how he is able to knead Ki inside of him and will most likely master it soon.

Lugh's and Takeda's fight continues.

Takeda notices how he gets shivers through his spine while fighting Lugh.

Soon Lugh makes pretty awesome move grabbing Takedas sleeve with finger and uses centrifugal force throwing Takeda down. That move was called "Ogata style floating throw". Almost immediately Takeda realizes that his arm is at danger, but quickly solves the situation with a "phantom left". Takeda throws his jacket away, you know, the sleeves.

Lugh announces that he can "see" ki.and says that his ki is "sei", the same as Kenichi's.

Comments

Chapter 505 was decent. Not much happened and there was basically no progress whatsoever. We got some information about ki etc.

Because nothing happened, there's really not much to comment about.

Predictions

I think that Takeda - Lugh fight could end next chapter, I can't see why prolong such a sidekick fight so much. We may see some other pair fighting next time.

I'll make a wild prediction: Lugh wins and at least breaks Takeda's arm. He's been so close several times so he may as well succeed.

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi 504: Sidekicks getting too much attention

I don't have big expectations of Historys strongest disciple Kenichi nowadays. Sure fanservice is nice and all, but it's bored me for too long. In this weeks chapters we get fanservice and basically couple pages for everyones fights.

We have Miu and Rimi fighting, Miu unleashes her some kind of dormant power "Dou ki" in a tight situation. She seems to begin overpowering Rimi.

Hermit and Siegfried are having their fight, nothing special about that.

And then we've got Rachel and Renka "fighting" sure it's nice how Rachel decides to steal Renkas swimsuit, but it feels a bit forced fanservice.

Kisara and Kushinada, Kisara feels like she doesn't have a chance, Ukita doesn't realize shit and gets strongly thrown to ground.

Takeda and Lugh, Takeda is having trouble against the blind man.

Comments

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi isn't focused enough: mangaka is giving too much attention to uninteresting minor characters. Even decent fanservice isn't enought to make this worthwhile.

I seriously miss the "old" Kenichi, where he was immensely trained by all the masters and went on missions with them. All the minor characters were still there, but thank god they didn't get this much attention. If I'd prefer for some character to die and never come back it's Niijima.

I'm not even going to try to predict this crap.
